Overworking here in Singapore is common- And not only that, It is a massive problem too. But it is very wrong if we defined all the people who work too long hours as 'workaholics'. We only described workaholics such as people who work too long and too hard usually over identify with their work. In other words, they think that their work is who they are. Without it they would be unsure of their identity and would find themselves wanderin else where. We can't put blame on them because we need to know the sysmatic perspective before we make any conclusion. Work has only the value you give it and needs to be kept in its true perspective. Those who overwork and over-identify with work lead unbalanced lives in which their personal lives and those close to them, their families and friends will suffer. Speaking of which, I believe many will point me as a victim of it due to my lifestyle now. I can't deny it but to accept the true fact that my work takes up most of my time now... not to forget that I have classes on certain nights and spending the off day in the library will just sound it more difficult... Yes, I acknowledged my situation... And this is how I balance my life... Of course having mentioned all those, friends will still be the key to life... And I'm a firm believer that there is no such thing as 'no time'. We all share the same amount of time in this world- 24hours a day. No matter how hard n long we work or how dreadful our day can be, we still have time for anything else. Even a 1min call to someone is better than giving excuses. Its just how we prioritize things. So instead of complaining not enough time for this and that, which somehow is damaging because words are the houses in which our thoughts live. The way we speak will indicate the way we think. So I rather accept the life that I'm going through now. That's the only way it should be.
