Keeping promises are crucial in this society. If we dont trust a person's word, we would not be able to rely on them. If were not obliged to fulfill the promises we made, then in effect, we would be lying. Yes it may be easy to keep an empty promises or even little unimportant promises that we would be sayin n did not mean it but lets do consider about the other person point of view. Sure, you may twist and turn ur words and making excuses when you didnt fulfill ur words but the impression of you will change and ure only lying to urself. Promises are important because we believe in the intentions of the person making the promises. The belief rests on our sense that when a promise is made there is an obligation to fulfill it. - This is true and it applies to all of us.

At the same time, promises help to protect those vulnerable ones. Lying and breakin promises are both forms of power over the unsuspecting. When a promise is made, the other person comes to rely upon it. Because breaking a promise can do harm, and keepin it is what it means to be ethical. This is why breakin them is so difficult for the person who thinks of themselves as ethical. Let's not forget that an empty promises are not only dishonest but, it also hurts another human being - This is where people dont realise about it because they too concern abt themselves. They are self-centered and they are only lettin themselves down. Promise keepin goes to the heart of self-esteem, whereas promise-breakin is an attack upon one's integrity.

Even words and not promises can do harm too. If we are lying to another person, we are actually destroyin the relationship of our own self n the significant other. So if you really do treasure those people around you,- be it ur friends, partner, colleagues, family and so forth. Do seriously think about them before making such decision. In the end of the day, it will reflect on you.
