I was doin my COS( co. orderly sergeant duty) on the 10/Sept/05 when this chinese lady called me at ard 1900hrs. This was how the conversation went:

Ring Ring!
Shakin: Hello, Alpha Co. How can I Help you?
Anonymous: Is this is Support Co?

Shakin: No mem, this is Alpha. All the other company's no. have been diverted to Alpha Co.Can I help u?
Anonymous: Oh, May I know when my son is coming back? Is he ok? How is Taiwan now?

Shakin: Your son is coming back on the 13 Sept which is on tues at about 8AM at Terminal 2. They just finished all their training in Taiwan, by now they should be having their holiday in Taipei. Taiwan is fine now from what I've heard. Everyone is fine there. I can assure u that.

Anonymous:Then when my son come back, must he go back to camp and do duty? or he go home after that?
Shakin: Well ermmm.... He will go back home straight from the airport. He don't need to report back to camp. They will give him off up to 25 Sept as planned. There's no duty or whatsoever for him. He will have 2 to 3 weeks of holiday.

Anonymous: Then who is taking care of the camp? Nobody ar? Then who are you ar? Nvr go Taiwan ar?
Shakin: There will be people in camp taking care of the place. Not to worry about that mem, we have people here who have been appointed to do guards and so forth and Im the cos(Co. Orderly Sergeant) here. I'm one of those who will be in camp taking care of the place.

Anonymous: So you sure my son no need to come back to camp after he reach Singapore?
Shakin: Very sure mem. He will enjoy his 2weeks off to spend time with the family and friends until the 25Sept.

I was shocked. I asked myself if I did something wrong that provoked her or smth that result her slammin the phone down but I was sure that I was very polite towards her. So many parents called me askin abt their son n they showed some courtesy by saying thank u at the end of the conversation. Some did not but at least they showed the respect towards each other. And I'm totally okay with that but this one was way too much. After assuring her, she gave that kind of responed. Like what the fish! So rude! Reminds me during the National Day 04 when I was doin some volunteerin work. That was when I totally saw the Good,Bad and Ugly side of Singaporeans.
