There is a time in our lives when both self-image and our self-esteem are determined by other people. When we were small kids, our lives are being dominated n conquer by adults n other kids. We see ourselves throught the msges we receive from them. Good msges, gd self-image. Bad msges, bad self-image. The point is that when we re at tender age, we respond to the msges we hear most often, We form a pic of ourselves, and then we develp feelings that are consistent with it. We tend to become wwhat we re told abt ourselves. But one of the most important things to understand abt self esteem is that as we get older we have to learn to think for ourselves and also to realise tt we have a choice abt how we re goin to respond to the msges from other ppl( rem my last few entry..abt choice). The thing is we must believe in ourselves, that matter most. Whether we were treated tighly or wrongly as children, our self- esteem is now our responsibility. But! Don't get me wrong.Im not sayin tt other ppl arent important in regard to our feelings. All of us need to be told from time to time that we re loved, appreciated and valued. We need our hugs, too. Its not only necessary but fantastic to be affirmed by other ppl. But we cant sit ard n wait for others to appauld us in order to feel gd. We have to do things that make us feel gd abt ourselves even w/o the praise. Then when it comes, it reaffirms wat we re already feelin. Its a great bonus. Other people can do alot of things to make us feel good. But, ultimately, how we feel abt ourselves is the direct reuslt of wat we do and wat we think. Real self esteem is respectt that we have to earn from ourselves. Always remember this..."Feel good, feel proud, feel cared for".
